The slender lanes of Khan el-Khalili are basically a medieval style mall. This conglomerate of shops - many of which are arranged around small squares - stores everything from soap powder to semi-precious stones, not to mention camels and alabaster pyramids. Most stores and kiosks are open from about 9 a.m. until after sunset (except for Friday and Sunday mornings), although many souvenir sellers are open as long as there are customers, until Sunday.
